Compete for the title of 2025 Cedar Valley Youth Poet Laureate by submitting one file with up to 3 poems for consideration by April 1st. Title includes cash prize, a UNI scholarship, the opportunity to advance to regional competition, and be an ambassador for poetry in the Cedar Valley.
Qualifying teens must be aged 13-19 living in one of eight Iowa counties that comprise the Cedar Valley (Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette, Grundy, & Tama).
Finalists will read poems for judges and audience at a commencement event on Saturday, April 19th at the University of Northern Iowa, where the winner will be named. All who submit will receive an email on April 9th with more information about the April 19th event.
